I came down with a nasty cold on New Year's Day. This is a list of all my efforts to get over it.
  1. Start each day with a pint of water with one tbsp raw apple cider vinegar and pinches of cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and nutmeg stirred into it.
  2. Coconut oil pulling
  3. Hydrogen peroxide in my ears.
  4. Nasal saline spray.
You know that feeling you get when you're swimming and you accidentally get water up your nose? I now have that perpetually. Quite unpleasant.
  5. Oscillococcinum
  6. Hot water with lemon juice, grated horseradish, and cayenne
  7. Spoonfuls of Zhoug.
This is a Yemenite condiment made with cilantro, parsley, garlic, jalapeños, salt, pepper, cumin, and olive oil.
  8. Lots of fire cider.
  9. Chicken broth with Zhoug.
  10. Spoonfuls of hot sauce.
  11. Italian wedding soup with extra raw garlic and jalapeño.
  12. Ginger tea with whiskey and honey.
  13. Black elderberry tincture.
  14. Garlic and thyme soup
  15. Cold wet socks treatment.
Much cozier and more pleasant than it sounds. You heat a pair of heavy wool socks and put them on over cold, wet, cotton ones. Then you bundle up and go to bed.
  16. One full day in bed binge watching Gilmore Girls.
  17. Honey and cinnamon
  18. Vitamin C
  19. I'm open to suggestions. This cold must go!
  20. I read this in a book once. Nail a hat onto the wall across from your bed. Get a bottle of vodka. Get into bed. Drink vodka until you see two hats.

  21. Spanish flu medication. Strong as fuck.
