Today's pedagogical conundrum.
  1. You ask him to tell you more.
  2. You listen.
  3. He tells the class that when he walks down the street, police hassle him.
    He's afraid he'll get more of that.
  4. You call on the gods of pedagogy.
  5. You ask them to grant you wisdom. Fast.
  6. You tell the student, "it sounds like you're really angry and really afraid."
  7. You say, "You have every right to be angry and afraid."
  8. You sit with him in silence.
