BBQ JOINTS AT DFW THAT I'VE EATEN AT TODAY
I got a cheap Orbitz flight from Montreal to Palm Springs via Dallas. I had a 6-hour layover, which meant enough time for two meals.
- •Railhead BBQIn concourse D. I got the three-meat platter; pulled pork, brisket and sausage. Surprisingly good! Brisket was very tender and smoky.
- •Salt Lick BBQThe Austin-Bergstrom airport landmark, now in DFW! I got the taster platter; brisket, pork, and pork ribs. Lives up to the name and reputation of the real Salt Lick; sauce is unique, as usual. Beans are great, rest of the sides are phoned in.
- •BONUS: Cousin's Bar-BQApparently a local Dallas-Fort Worth metro area chain. Now that I've had the other two, I kinda want to go for the hat trick. I'm flying back through Dallas on Monday. I could win the Triple Crown and be the American Pharaoh of Dallas airport barbecue. Stay tuned. UPDATE: this happened.
