Best career advice I've ever received

from the white male managers in my life
  1. If you have a choice between something that makes you money and something that builds your career, follow your career.
Basically a reiteration of the "skills pay bills" mantra my 8th grade English teacher preached to my classmates and I. Only thing I remember from that class.
  2. Be assertive.
This is more of an eyeroll type of advice.
  3. Not everyone gets to make a video for BuzzFeed.
This was more motivational than advisory, but he's right.
  4. Take as much production elements/assets as you can before leaving your job.
Not from a white male, but very good advice regardless.
