#WORLDADOPTIONDAY

  1. My mom had me when she was 15 years old.
  2. She met my adoptive father when I was 3 years old and they were married by the time I was six.
  3. My dad officially adopted me when I was 12 years old. I remember being so happy seeing the name of my father on my birth certificate being changed from someone I had never even met to the name of a man who had loved and cared for me since I was 3.
  4. People often don't understand the complexity of my paternity, and consider me "half-adopted" especially because my parents divorced when I was 14.
  5. But what they don't understand is I was adopted by my dad's entire family and despite the divorce I am still his daughter.
  6. Being adopted was truly one of the best things that has ever happened to me.
  7. Feeling thankful today ❤️❤️❤️
  8. My adoptive great-grandparents & cousins
  9. My adoptive grandmother and I on my 16th birthday
  10. My cousins & I on vacation in Michigan this summer
  11. My sweet baby siblings, who never think of me as anything other than their big sister.
  12. My dad and I on our trip to NYC this summer
