Turns out I'm incredibly more productive doing administrative/clerical projects while listening to podcasts than I am while watching Netflix. Surprise surprise
  1. So far I've been listening to episodes of "Poetry Off The Shelf" from The Poetry Foundation, but I'd love some variety in here
  2. Please add your faves!!
  3. Dear Sugar podcast
Amazing, real life advice from Cheryl Strayed (my queen) and Steve Almond. It's great.

  5. Ana Faris is Unqualified
Subscribed after reading lists about it and it's so funny but also so real. Episodes are long, but go by really quickly

  6. The President's Inbox
I am a huge politics nerd so this might be a bit niche, but they do a good job at looking at issues by category that the incoming president will have to take on. It is also not completely depressing which is great for me right now.

  7. Freakonomics Radio
Another good one for fun facts! While it is based on Econ there are a lot of cross cutting conversations on things like behavioral science, productivity, gender pay gap etc etc that make it interesting

  8. Beautiful anonymous
Comedian Chris Gethardt has one hour phone calls with anonymous people. It's so beautiful, insightful, funny and wonderful.

  12. Revisionist History
Gladwell investigates an episode in our past (an Elvis Costello song, a terrible accident, Wilt Chamberlain, etc.) that he thinks we may have misjudged. (Part of a podcast network called Panoply that has a huge variety.)

  17. Magic Lessons with Elizabeth Gilbert
I love this podcast so so much. Every week, Liz talks to a woman who is experiencing some roadblocks in her creativity. Liz listens and gives great advice, and then calls in one of her very successful and very kind and very wonderful friends to also weigh in. It is so reaffirming and generous in spirit. I can't recommend it enough!

  18. Making Oprah
More like a mini-series in that it's only four episodes, but a damn good story. Especially the part about how they gave away all the cars.

  26. On Being with Krista Tippet is a podcast where she interviews people who have certain beliefs or views and the episodes are long but fruitful and really interesting. It's mostly about spiritual life/the soul/human nature, but not in a preachy, or necessarily religious, way

  27. I'm a SUCKER for anything about love and this is one of my all time favorite things. People submit essays about love (not just romantic!) and they're performed by uh performers (actors, authors, newscasters, etc.)

  28. I was v skeptical about this, but my friend made me listen to an episode and it was pretty hilarious. It's also comedy + womanly sexual empowerment in addition to talking about their experiences
