I'm a little obsessed with finding new artists/bands, and have decided to share my holistic approach to music discovery.
  1. Internet radio.
I used to do the Pandora thing, and have discovered some great artists that way, but I find that the "discover" factor has waned a bit. There are advantages and disadvantages of the "music genome" approach, but I like to find music that pushes the boundaries of my general constellation of taste. Some recommended online stations would be: • The SpyFM • Radio 1190 • KEXP • 3WK
  2. Record Labels
I also tend to follow a lot of music labels on Facebook. I've only recently started doing this. This list of labels is sure to grow, but for starters: • Touch and Go • Matador • Domino • Sub Pop • Thrill Jockey • Secretly Canadian • Merge • Rhymeslayer • Stones Throw
  1. "The Satanic Verses" by Salmon Rushdie
  2. "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy (trilogy)" by Douglas Adams
  3. "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" by Jonathan Safron Foer
