Good movies you might not have seen

  1. Predestination (2014)
Ethan Hawke stars as a time traveling agent in this twisty, mind-bending science fiction mystery. Actor Sarah Snook was a revelation in this. This is not streaming on Netflix or Hulu...I had to borrow the DVD from the library. I watched it twice in two days.
  2. Odd Thomas (2013)
Based on the fantastic Dean Koontz book, this movie stars Anton Yelchin as the title character, a young man who is a talented fry cook and happens to be psychic. He sees dead people, and they lead him on a desperate mission to stop a massive tragedy. This one had me blubbering at one point. On Netflix.
  3. In Your Eyes (2014)
Joss Whedon wrote this film. Need I say more? Zoe Kazan stars in this paranormal romance about two strangers who can suddenly and inexplicably sense what the other is feeling and seeing. Humor, romance and drama, acted well. On Netflix.
  4. One Small Hitch (2012)
This is a light romantic comedy that I found completely entertaining. Not a super original premise (boy and girl pretend to be engaged to make dying dad happy and -spoiler- fall in love for real), but the lesser known actors who play the leads (Shane McRae and Aubrey Dollar) were charming and charismatic. On Netflix.
  5. The Awakening (2011)
A British horror film starring Rebecca Hall and Dominic West. She plays an author in 1921 England who works with police to debunk supernatural phenomena. When she visits a boys boarding school after ghost sightings there, well...spookiness and twists and turns occur. Don't watch this alone at night. On Netflix.
