...and therefore will not give you Toxic Shock Syndrome. Most people don't even know they they have an option. Ladies, stop messing up the delicate flora of your lady parts!
  1. Diva Cup
The first non-mainstream feminine hygiene product that most people try. You can find the Diva Cup in most hippie stores (and even some grocery and drug stores), but it goes by different names in different countries. It's made of food-grade silicone, and even though it can seem a bit expensive at first ($30+), remember that you'll have it for years. Make sure to pay attention to the size on the box to avoid discomfort or leakage.
  2. Sea sponge
This is basically the same sea sponge that you would get for body care (it used to be a living sea organism), but the ones that are sold for menstrual care are super soft and sized for your lady parts. These can be reused multiple times, and cleaned by boiling in water with a capful of vinegar. Pair these with an organic cotton liner or a Luna Pad for safety, because when the muscles of your vaginal wall contract you are squeezing a sponge (learned the hard way during Pilates).
  3. Luna Pads
Basically a more sensible maxi pad. Luna Pads consist of an outer cover that snaps around your underwear, and an inner pad that absorbs your flow. Rinse these in the sink and then toss them in the laundry.
