  1. 1997/98. Aged 18 (and a bit!)
  2. I had a crush on a boy named Richard. I was far too shy to turn that into anything, so I defiantly declared I was happier single. 😕 ...clearly a lie, I wanted rosy-cheeked Richard.
  3. I worked full time as a Disability & Aged Pension Officer at the Department of Social Security (now Centrelink).
    This is Australia's Welfare office.
  4. This was not what I wanted as a career, it was a well paying job and offered security. That is all.
  5. I was saving for a brand new car and a 5 week holiday to the UK and the US.
  6. I dreamed of being an actress.
  7. I was listening to Counting Crows..
  8. ..Spice Girls
  9. ..Matchbox 20
  10. ..Madonna
  11. ..Smashing Pumpkins
  12. This is an excerpt from my journal at the time.
Princess Diana had just died. I saw the news broadcast on the big screen at the Casino. My mum and Aunt took me there to celebrate my birthday and turning of age (18 in Australia).
  13. I lived at home with my Mum, Dad and younger sister. My older sister also lived at home, yet was rarely there.
  14. My Dad's brain cancer was terminal and I often feared him having a Grand Mal seizure, so I'd cut my nights out short to be home by midnight. I did this so that I could be there for my mum, so she didn't have to go it alone.
  15. F.R.I.E.N.D.S was my favourite TV show and my therapy. I needed that half hour every night.
Fun fact: I visited the set in 1998 and again in 2011. I went to Central Perk!!.. and Monica's!
  16. I was convinced that Leo Di Caprio and I were going to be lovers.
  17. To that point, I had goldfish named Romeo and Juliet.
  18. I bought my first mobile phone. It was a Nokia 6110.
  19. I feared that I was going to lose my best friend to her new boyfriend. I turned my fear to anger and disgust.
They are happily married, with two kids. I didn't lose her! We are still great friends.
  20. I looked like this...
I was still going through my Romeo + Juliet phase..
