1. I've always wanted to act.
This I have known since I was a little kid.
  2. It was my favourite activity to do.
I started acting in plays in grade 1, but started singing when I was a baby.
  3. It's the one passion that I've had since I was a little kid and stuck with me.
  4. However, careers in the arts are unstable, for lack of a better word.
It's not that they're "unstable", its more that they're hard to find and you'll most likely face failure.
  5. I know that many jobs are also "unstable", but it's just so frightening.
  6. The worst part is that even my family makes comments.
"You're going to end up being a waitress" or "maybe if we hadn't taken you to see so many shows, you'd be passionate about a real occupation."
  7. But, you see, the thing is that I've only ever really been passionate about acting.
I want to act and sing and dance. Or maybe just act, but it's something i really want.
  8. As a grade 12 student attending a private school focused on science and math, it's kind of a joke to love drama the way I do.
And I think that really sucks. Why is math and science and business (etc) the only things that schools focus on? Why can't arts be a realistic career?
  9. Loving drama and acting and performing the way I do gets me down a lot.
I love Broadway and movies and television and I hope to one day be up on stage or on screen, perusing what I love.
  10. I just feel super alone sometimes.
Will I ever succeed? Will this "be a waste of time"? How do I even become successful?
  11. I plan or pursuing acting, I just wish my family fully supported me following my dreams.
  12. I guess that's mostly it.
If anyone has any advice or anything, I'd be open to hearing it. Just been kinda down lately, worrying about my career and future. I just do not want to spend my life doing a job I can't stand and feeling regret or shame for not reaching my goal.
  13. Thanks for letting me vent, ListApp. Love you!
    ❤️❤️ thanks for listening.
