Personal favourites
  1. Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
If David Lynch were to make a video game, this would be it. It's terrifying, melancholy, and full of dark comedy, but underneath it all is fantastic gameplay
  2. Super Metroid
One of the most fun, absorbing experiences I've had gaming, and something I can play over and over, each time changing my approach and finding something new
  3. Super Smash Bros. Melee
The most fun multiplayer that has ever existed, and ever will.
  4. The Last of Us
The best game on the PS3, maybe even my favourite PlayStation game in general. Much is made about the wonderful story, score and motion-capture acting, but it's also FUN. I played through the online campaign twice, played through the main game five times (not including watching two friends separately play the whole thing), and I'm now halfway through on Grounded mode. Somehow, Its DLC prequel is even better
  5. Metroid Prime
Not only did the huge risk of moving the series into first-person 3D pay off, it delivers on every single element you'd want from this series. It makes you feel isolated and thrilled, powerless and badass in equal measure
  6. Super Mario Galaxy
I know 64 normally gets this spot, but SMG1 is the one for me
  7. Half-Life 2
The best FPS I've ever played, but even that category feels disingenuous. The plot is fascinating and switches between sci-fi and horror seamlessly
  8. Shadow of the Colossus
The best argument that art can be made in this medium
  9. Resident Evil 4
Somehow manages to mix nail-biting horror with ludicrous b-movie action sequences. Fucking amazing
  10. Silent Hill 2
I never beat this game because I'm a huge coward
