BEST MUSIC MOMENTS IN TELEVISION

According to me. And you, if you have any suggestions. This list does contain spoilers (more in the links than the descriptions), consider yourselves warned. 📺🎶 Also, feel free to let me know if you have similar lists ala @TQ: https://li.st/l/6X2RGK9FwYHKx8bLs6QRaI.
  1. Skins UK, Wild World
Lyrics by Cat Stevens but performed by the cast of the show. I can't hear this song without thinking of these characters and this scene. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyMi_itzgFs)
  2. Weeds, With Arms Outstretched
by Rilo Kiley. A callback to the pilot. I'm of a rare breed who actually loved the ending of this show, even with how whacky the final seasons turned out to be. This song will always be Nancy to me. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0k5AV1uMaEg)
  3. The OC, Running Up That Hill
(Performed) by Placebo, originally by Kate Bush. Not the last mention of that show on this list, this scene and this song epitomised the angst of this show and the aftermath of one of the most controversial TV finales at the time. (https://youtu.be/7loUw7fzM-4)
  4. The Office, Seasons of Love
from RENT. Kind of? Rewritten as a tribute to Michael Scott and performed by his employees. I can't even talk about this moment. It's too perfect. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_rQTukqXKk)
  5. Six Feet Under, Breathe Me
by Sia. I haven't seen this yet! I'm still catching up! I'm just including this so no one hits me, because I know how iconic it is and I'm sure I'll agree when I get there. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNwARV9tPUw)
  6. The X-Files, My Weakness
by Moby. This scene is cathartic and yet cuts deep. "I'm fine. I'm free." (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=peUkHh5tDbo)
  7. House, Lose You
by Pete Yorn. House had a lot of pretty spectacular musical moments, but this one has always affected most of all. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caRjO98Ftek)
  8. The Newsroom, Fix You
by Coldplay. I don't know what to say about this except: powerful as fuck. And one of my favourite TV scenes, period. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qH8slDn8x4g)
  9. The OC, Speeding Cars
by Imogen Heap. And not the last we hear of Imogen in this episode, but I like this maybe a little bit more - it's a little less traumatic. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjRtetyyKek)
  10. Oz, Save Me
by Joan Armatrading. I can't find a link for this scene which is probably for the best. If you've seen it, you'll know it. This show didn't use lyrical music much but boy did it pack a punch when they did.
  11. The Office, Forever
by Chris Brown. This scene is all at once hilarious and heartwarming. Exactly what an Office wedding could only be. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzCKJ3LTn9s)
  12. Queer as Folk, Save the Last Dance for Me
by The Drifters. Such a sweet and surprising moment. Naturally, this could only be the precursor to something awful. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZbUNhVLgUo)
  13. The Mindy Project, Try Again
by Aaliyah. Not a long enough scene. Not a good quality enough clip. Whatever, it's Chris Messina dancing. Enjoy. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsDNzDqp4Nk)
  14. Scrubs, Hallelujah
By Jeff Buckley Season 5, episode 20 This show has the perfect mix of comedy and those moments that give you chills

  15. Lost, Delicate
By Damien Rice. Season 1, it's the episode where Sun speaks English to everyone and then goes into the ocean in her bikini because SHE IS AN INDEPENDENT WOMAN. Dope song.

  16. Parenthood, Man On Fire
By Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros This scene is the epitome of what the show is all about! Victor rounds the bases heading for home base with his entire extended family cheering for him all while dealing with the newly learned fact that Kristina had cancer. Beautiful

  17. Sense 8, World Spins Madly On
By the Weepies, Episode 6-Demons Played when the characters start to connect and things start to make sense specifically with Riley & Will. Just watch it!

  18. By Bloc Party. A conflicted Sarah, one on one with a jittery and assured Chuck. Their longing is palpable. The scene is crowned by an org. chart rewinding through the series' chess pieces, culminating with the enigmatic Orion. "Chuck" at its best. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=04oTh7zmUvQ

  19. Mad Men, "You Really Got Me" by The Kinks
Peggy leaves Sterling Cooper, waits for the elevator, gives the office a longing look, then looks forward, grins, and this plays in. It's the perfect music moment in TV to me.

  20. "Tesselate" - Sons of Anarchy
Only because I can't think of more off the top of my head, but that whole series is full of gut-wrenching musical moments.

  21. "1977" by Ana Tijoux
Appears in an episode of Breaking Bad and also in the first episode of Broad City. Best song ever!!

  22. Dare You To Move, One Tree Hill
This show has the best music moments of anything I've ever watched and that's saying a lot a lot a lot and unfortunately it is drastically unappreciated. I chose this song because it marks the first kiss of my OTP, but honestly, everything is perfect (check this website: oth-music.com).

  23. Mmmwhatchasaid from the OC
For parody purposes in a scene where people get killed.

  24. Started at the Bottom - Broad City
The fantasy sequence in the bank makes me laugh just thinking about it.

  25. The Finch/Saliva combo on One Tree Hill
"No foul. Basket counts." Lucas Scott for the win. One of the best pilots ever. Every song in this episode/season could be here. "I Shall believe" when Karen hugs Dan for rescuing Lucas from the car wreck kills me.

  26. "Brothers in Arms" on the West Wing
"Two Cathedrals" is arguably one of the best television episodes of all time. The final scene with Dire Straights in the background doesn't hurt. Major Spoiler Alert: https://vimeo.com/56378248
