MOVIES I'VE SEEN FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 2017

With ratings. My taste is all over the place so don't be surprised if my ratings are, too.
  1. β€’
    Passengers (2017)
7/10? I really liked it but the script was so much better.
  2. β€’
    13th (2016)
    10/10. Must-see.
  3. β€’
    Allied (2016)
8.5-9/10. I was not expecting this to be so goddamn good? Saw it today and that ending fucked. me. up.
  4. β€’
    It Follows (2015)
5-6/10? Kind of underwhelming. Everyone said it was super unsettling but I didn't get that. Also I was multitasking so maybe I missed the scary bits.
  5. β€’
    La La Land (2016)
9/10? Would have been a 10/10 if not for certain reasons I'm still torn about. The "Audition" scene is 10/10 and one of my faves of any movie, ever, though.
  6. β€’
    Hidden Figures (2016)
    10/10. Amazing performances.
  7. β€’
    Moonlight (2016)
10/10. Normally I make snarky comments throughout even the best movie but this stunned me into silence. One of the best scores I've ever heard, too. πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ
  8. β€’
    Me Before You (2016)
5.5-6/10. Sweet, sad. I think the matter they explore (no spoilers) is important but they went about it maybe the wrong way?
  9. β€’
    Rogue One (2016)
7/10. I really love Ben Mendelsohn.
  10. β€’
    Logan (2017)
10/10. Am I too generous with my tens or do I just tend to watch really good films? Either way, this was a game changer.
  11. β€’
    Fist Fight (2017)
6/10. Wasn't award worthy but didn't need to be. Laughed a lot.
  12. β€’
    Lion (2016)
10/10 but that seems insufficient. Gutting.
  13. β€’
    The Edge of Seventeen (2016)
8/10. Really not a comedy. Super relatable.
  14. β€’
    Under the Sun (2015)
Very well made but I don't feel comfortable rating this. It's horrifying and made me feel utterly helpless. Barely a glimpse into life in NK but enough to make you cry.
  15. β€’
    Keanu (2016)
100/10. The purest love story I've ever seen.
  16. β€’
    A Cure for Wellness (2017)
    3/10. So disappointing.
  17. β€’
    The Lego Batman Movie (2017)
    10/10. So. Good. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»
  18. β€’
    Beauty and the Beast (2017)
7/10. It was well made but tbh I'm one of the few people who is not a huge fan of the original (I know) so maybe that's why I didn't enjoy it as much.
  19. β€’
    Popstar (2016)
These ratings are arbitrary at this point. This film was brilliant. I laugh just thinking about it. 10000/10. #doinkdedoink
  20. β€’
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
9/10. Not as good as the original but still super good.
  21. β€’
    Snatched (2017)
6.5/10. Offensive and dumb yet heartfelt. Gave the laughs I was looking for.
  22. β€’
    Wonder Woman (2017)
10/10. Everything I wanted it to be and more. Gal Galdot balances the funny and the heartbreaking so well. Only wish they could have embraced comic canon and given her a lady instead of Chris Pine to discover love with (she's bi) but one step at a time.
  23. β€’
    A Dog's Purpose (2017)
Yes, I'm aware of the controversy. It was a shelter event and they gave us free tickets afterward. 5/10, too much emotional torture.
