WHAT I WANTED TO BE GROWING UP, CHRONOLOGICALLY

  1. 1.
    Everything.
I was overwhelmed by all that I wanted to be. A doctor, a lawyer, a writer, an activist, a psychologist, a speech pathologist. Whenever I wanted to be something, it consumed me until the next something did.
  2. 2.
    Financially stable.
I came to realise that I am not smart enough for most of the above, so I'd be pretty happy doing something that meant I could pay the bills.
  3. 3.
    Emotionally stable.
Recently I've discovered that even just finding work to pay the bills that doesn't make me panic constantly is harder than my younger self ever anticipated. Right now, I just want to be able to catch my breath and smile freely again.
