Consider the deeper meaning of our loved ones' most common BS.
  1. "I love that we can pick up right where we left off."
Or you might hear, "we can go for months without talking and when we see each other it's like no time has passed." Subtext: "I love you, but I want you to be cool with the fact that we may go months without talking to or seeing each other because I'm too busy or preoccupied for every moment of every day for an indefinite amount of time. Luckily, you'll be the same lovable person as before and I'll probably still like you the same amount."
  2. "Whoever gets you will be the luckiest guy in the world."
Misleading statement, this is from a girl pal of yours and not a man who is dumping you. This is usually said when talking about your lack of love life, and yet, every time a single dude comes around, he's perfect for literally every other single friend but you. Subtext: "I like you, but I'm as stumped as you are as to who the hell is going to end up with you."
  3. "Did you lose weight?"
No, I didn't. Maybe it's the way my hair is pinned up or my entirely black wardrobe, but I haven't. Instead of asking if I lost weight, how about sticking to the old reliable: "You look great!" It just forces me to say that I haven't lost weight and I consider whether or not my friends seem to think I should.
