Don’t give up. Don’t take no for an answer. Don’t let other people tell you who you should be and what you should do. If I had let everybody else tell me what I should be and what I should do, I would be a school teacher today and not a rock star. And not a songwriter. And not happy. Nobody else really knows what you want except you. Don’t give up the fight.
  31. "I am pretty fearless, and you know why? Because I don't handle fear very well; I'm not a good terrified person."

"Everybody has their Velvet Underground moment, and I just want to remind you- whether you're old or young or middle aged or whatever- that if you love something and you really want to do it, please do not let anyone tell you you can't do it. Because as my mom used to say, life is long and if you're not doing something you love, you're going to be a bored person for the rest of your life. So it's really important that you find that thing that you love, your passion, and you do it."
