I've been in a Memoir mood lately. Here are some of my faves.
  1. Where Am I Now? By Mara Wilson
I really liked the whole book, but my favorite chapter was the one about her sister. I loved the way she jumped back and forth between today and when they were younger. She did it so seamlessly and it worked so well. I also found myself relating to them, as everyone calls my sister and me "the girls" too.
  2. Wild by Cheryl Strayed
On my deathbed, I will still be praising this book. It's so descriptive, honest, and lovely all at the same time. Cheryl doesn't portray herself in the best light (she's very honest about her cheating and drug use) but she still comes off as a strong and amazing person (which she is).
  3. Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes
I don't know why people don't talk about this memoir more??? It's fantastic. It's so funny (she describes The Devil Wears Prada as "a daring expose on how hard it is to find a good assistant"). She's also a wonderful storyteller and her writing is very natural.
