1. Oral Allergy Syndrome (also known as pollen-food syndrome - related to my bad tree pollen allergies in the spring) gives me an allergic reaction to certain proteins in a variety of raw fruits.
If you cook them, though, the proteins break down and I can eat them.
  2. The symptoms include itching and burning of the lips, mouth and throat. It's not dangerous, just annoying as hell and I can't eat many raw fruits, such as...
  3. Apples
    Static
But I can eat apple sauce.
  4. Bananas
    Static
This makes no sense to me since it has a skin, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  5. Cherries
    Static
I but my lip once and then ate cherries later that day. My lip swelled up in that part and it was creepy!
  6. Peaches

  7. Pears

  8. Plums

  9. Nectarines

  10. Avocado

And yes, guacamole. But I'll suffer the itchy mouth for some guac, and avocado in my sushi.
  11. So enjoy your fall apple picking, everyone. Just remember, that same raw fruit you enjoy irritates me.
    Static
    No, I mean that literally.
