CAVE PARTY

it's happening tonight
  1. My friends and I have been joking about this idea, cave party, for ~two years
  2. Basic concept: theme party where the theme is a cave.
let your imagination fly free. chaos and true joy ensue.
  3. The discussion of hypotheticals has been hilarious and produced high qual conversations
"What if we have, like, a boulder that we can roll in front of the door??" "DUDE"
  4. The one constant throughout two years of discussion is the expectation that everyone comes in costume
    costume options are: •bat •bioluminescent lizard •spelunker
  5. On pretty short notice, we decided that cave party had to happen *this weekend*
@ejplatts is in town and I'll be abroad next quarter so NOW is the time to ✨shine✨
  6. Let me introduce you to the set-up:
    da da da DAAAAA
  7. Cave paintings
  8. Blacked out windows
    to simulate being underground
  9. Stalagmites
    duh
  10. Alcoholic dirt cups
    w gummy worms
  11. Cave-and-rocks-themed Spotify playlist
plz lmk if you have any additional suggestions
  12. CAVE SNACKS: ants on a log
  13. And mini packs of raisins
  14. Stacks on stacks of saltines for #survival
  15. Most importantly, a GIANT STALACTITE THAT IS GOING TO HANG FROM A CEILING FAN AND DRIP VODKA
    are you impressed yet
  16. stay tuned, will live list throughout the night
  17. welcome to CAVE PARTY, list app 💕
  18. update #1 -- MY COSTUME
    SPELUNKER
  19. update #2: GLOWING STALACTITE
feat. a head lamp in the background // please note that this did successfully drip vodka, very slowly, as if it were in a cave dripping spooky water droplets
  20. update #3: SHADOW PUPPETS
  21. update #4: in the background info I forgot to mention that the original idea with the boulder was that you'd roll it over the door and it would be like a survival game
the hashtag for this party was #onlyonepersonleavesthecave
  22. update #5: every time someone new showed up, we turned off all the lights (including the stalactite) and chanted "CAVE PAR-TY, CAVE PAR-TY"
it was great, kind of like a cult, just uncomfortable enough that we always followed up by showing the new guests the free saltines and exciting vodka stalactite
  23. update #6: if/when I throw another Cave Party™ I would make sure to do buddy checks more often
where you yell "BUDDY CHECK" and everyone has to grab a friend before they can continue dancing. somehow always hilarious.
  24. update #7: if you were wondering, chaos and true joy DID ensue
