GROWING UP IN AFRICA

  1. We were outside ALL the time. We all had awesome tans, without even trying. lol
  2. I had a pet monkey for a while - his name was Bobo.
  3. We only had electricity for a couple hours each night via a generator.
  4. We baked & cooked everything from scratch, so I'm pretty adept at that stuff now, which is helpful.
  5. I had to go to boarding school in a neighboring African country when I was in 7th grade (through high school) and those were some of the best days of my life.
  6. I don't have the words to adequately describe the beauty of the night sky in Africa...it's like you can see every star
  7. It's a gift and amazing to see animals like lions, giraffe and elephant in their natural habitat
  8. Even now, I'm so afraid of snakes because green mambas and black mambas were prevalent where I lived
  9. Palm trees are my favorite & I think I function better when they're in my environment :)
  10. It's a gift and amazing to pick your own mango or guava, etc. right off the tree and eat it fresh :)
  11. This list is making me homesick...
