I really like knowing people's middle names. Now tell me yours.
  1. Mine's Patricia.
My mom wanted it to be Earhart, my dad's mom's maiden name, but my grandma told my mom to use Patricia after my great aunt. My mom hates it so much she considered legally changing it when I was a kid. Maybe I'll surprise her one Christmas and change it myself.
  2. Amanda
My older (half) sister is 10 years older than me and my parents let her pick my middle name. I like it.

  3. Rose
This is also my mom's name!

  4. Sue
After my aunt. It's weird seeing it on its own.

  5. Nia
Which in Swahili means 'purpose'. My mom's pregnancy with me brought a lot of introspection and faith-building. So it only makes sense that when I was born she named me after her highest hopes. My name is Faith Purpose Wright. How virtuous.

  6. Elyse
My mom's middle name was Elizabeth, so she made my sister's middle name Elizabeth, and she didn't want me to be left out of the family name, so she made my middle name Elyse, which is Elizabeth in French.

  7. Marie
For my Grandma whose middle name was Mary. My aunt, 2 first cousins, and 2 of my cousins' children have the same middle name. My Grandma was the matriarch and we keep naming people after her.

  8. Well...I actually legally changed mine 😬
Not for any nefarious purposes. Growing up it was Marie - the ultimate Catholic girl middle name. I know a boatload of ladies with this middle name. When I got married I changed my last name to my husband's, & as I was way more attached to my maiden name than my middle one (& I was already doing all the work with Social Security & the DMV to make a change), I made my maiden name my legal middle name. So now it's Bolick.

  14. Marie
Named after my Aunt Marie who had terrible driving skills- often going thru the transit tunnel reserved for buses and the T and frequently turfing our lawn in addition to our neighbors. She passed those skills on to me.

  16. Marilyn
It was going to be my first name but it was too hard for my dad ( it was his mom and she was killed by a drunk driver) so now it's my middle name.

  17. ___________
Same as my mom! When I was younger though I was mad I didn't have a middle name because all my brothers do. So I decided my middle name was Burgess, same as my dad's. It's my great grandfather's name.

  24. Rebekah.
My parents chose our names from the Bible, so I have a New Testament first name and Old Testament middle.

  25. Laurie
In my family your godmother is the reason for your middle name. Laurie is my aunty on my dad's side. As the first grandchild on both sides my parents picked one family member from each of their sides. My uncle Marc on my mom's side is my godfather- if I would have been a boy my middle name then would be Marc.

  26. Elise
When my mom was pregnant with my sister (I was 5), they asked me what I thought the baby should be named. I obviously wanted to name her after myself, but I knew we couldn't have two Kristins, so I said Elise Nicole (her middle name after the daughter on My Two Dads). They actually chose it!

My mom's great grandmother and my dad's great-great grandmother were both named Delia! I hated it passionately until age 14 and then came to my senses.

  33. San
My mom's first name was Santhamma, so they just took the first three letters. Then she changed her name to Sandy, so it still applies. I like to pretend it stands for saint.
