    A Gathering of Shadows. Holy crap this series is SO GOOD.

    Alexandra Bracken - she graduated from my college a year before me! And this book was so good, I'm excited to read more of her.

    If I Was Your Girl. The author notes that this is not everyone's experience but that everyone needs to read happy books about people like them. Liked it a lot. Trans main character, trans author, trans cover model.
  22. Best Worldbuilding/Most Vivid Setting I Read This Year
    Brandon Sanderson is for sure the world building master but I'm going to give props to Heidi Heilig here for an awesome concept in Girl from Everywhere.

    Dept. of Speculation was stream of consciousness and experimental. Beautifully written.
