  1. "Well, do you?" He said as he leaned against Sara's locker
  2. He ran his hands through his brown locks. It was a nervous habit that he couldn't break.
  3. Sara didn't seem like she wanted to talk to him, but he couldn't help himself.
  4. Ever since their fling at summer camp, he couldn't stop thinking about her.
  5. Yes, that time at that party was a mistake.
  6. He needed to get Sara back and wouldn't let anything stand in his way.
  7. "I don't know what to say to you," Sara said as she jammed her iPad and Moleskine notebooks into her Fjallraven backpack.
  8. "Well, say something, come on."
  9. He knew Sara could hear the desperation in his voice.
  10. "Why didn't you tell me you were moving here?" Sara pleaded.
  11. "You didn't text me, send me a DM, or even update your location on Facebook," she continued. "How was I supposed to know?"
  12. "I know, I'm sorry. I ran out of data on my phone."
  13. "Like I am supposed to believe that," Sara replied, gripping the straps of her backpack.
  14. Sara closed her locker and began walking towards the parking lot. Jason jogged behind.
  15. He didn't know what else to say. No matter what came out of his mouth, Sara wouldn't listen.
  16. The walk to the parking lot was awkward. Like, the kind of awkward when you like someone's photo from 52 weeks ago on Instagram.
  17. Sara put in her headphones as they neared the rows filled with different colored 2007 Priuses.
  18. Sara fumbled for her keys in her backpack.
  19. "Here, let me help," he said, shoving his hands into her backpack.
  20. "Jason, just leave me alone, okay?"
  21. "I just want things to be back to normal," he whispered.
  22. Sara pushed his hands away and found her keys on her own. The beep of her doors unlocking echoed in the distance.
  23. Sara looked deep into his eyes like she was going to say something, but nothing came out.
  24. He waited until Sara's tail lights disappeared in the distance, took a deep breath, and ran his hands through his hair.
