Kicking off metal week with a bang @jwherrman @Jennydeluxe
  1. Ulver - Bergtatt
Weird traditional Norwegian folk interspersed with original Norwegian black metal.
  2. Wolves in the Throne Room - Celestial Lineage
Modern Pacific Northwest black metal with ambient touches by two forest dwelling Washington brothers
  3. Ghost - Opus Anonymous
Flamboyantly satanic Sabbath style melodic metal. There are skull masks and hoods.
  4. Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse
My favorite of the satanic church-burning early classic Norwegian albums.
  5. Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath vol 4
  6. Pallbearer - Sorrow and Extinction
Very pitchfork approved slow stoner metal.
  7. Accept - Balls to the Wall
    My favorite gay metal album.
  8. Panopticon - Roads to the North
Recent US band w Appalachian folk and shoegaze tendencies.
  9. Krallice - Diotima
Wildness from one of the more technically proficient current US bands. From NYC.
  10. Ancient VVisdom - A Godlike Inferno
More flamboyant satanism. See: "world of flesh"
  11. Liturgy - Aestethica
Recent NYC outfit fronted by a twerpish guy that a friend of mine went to high school with. He writes manifestos about what black metal is. Lots of upper register guitars and very good drumming. They thoroughly own live.
