1. Sunae is a Japanese art form which is basically painting with sand! The most famous sunae artist is Naoshi who makes amazing pieces like this:

You can watch her in action here: https://vimeo.com/11764498
  2. She also sells kits and a friend gave me this one to try

It's one of the easiest designs so great for a beginner.
  3. Here's what's inside
    Static
Cute instruction sheet, sticky sunae paper, bags of coloured sand, toothpick and ribbon.
  4. You work from dark colours to light and peel off those bits of the design.

Outlines first. The toothpick is very helpful for this.
  5. Then you sprinkle over the sand
    Static
And tip off the excess onto some folded paper so you can save it for next time.
  6. Then the yolk

  7. And the white

  8. A finished egg! It has a really cool texture

The ribbon is for making it into a bookmark or for hanging but I just propped it up on my bookshelf.
  9. Overall, really fun! It was a bit too simple for me and I'd love to try a more complicated design.
