THOUGHTS ON WATCHING THE NEW SEASON OF THE X-FILES

Some background.. I watched the X-Files pretty religiously in high school. My friend Heidi and I would record episodes and binge watch them together on weekends. Even though we now live thousands of miles apart, we have been watching this mini-season "together" thanks to Hulu and texting.
  1. Fair warning :: there are probably spoilers to be found here.
  2. I really wouldn't read farther unless you have watched the whole season.
  3. And you should probably know up front that we hate Chris Carter. For so many reasons.
Not the least of which is the torture which was seasons 8 and 9.
  4. All that being said, here we go!
  5. On the amazing genetics of Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny.
  6. On the fact that Mulder and Scully are no longer together?‽!!!
    Seriously.. WHAT. WHY.
  7. On the fact that Chris Carter made them give up their kid 14 years ago.
  8. On the importance of denial in this fandom.
  9. On the anticipation of disappointment.
  10. On the necessity of alcohol.
  11. On the continued amazingness of Mulder and Scully.
  12. On where exactly the bar for success is set.
  13. On the mythology.
  14. On the new characters.
  15. On the glorious last 5 minutes of episode 5.
  16. On the horrible anticipation of episode 6.
  17. On Scully's mad driving skills.
  18. On how much episode 6 sucked.
  19. On denial, again.
  20. And in summary.
