3 CLASSIC SCI-FI TV SHOW REBOOTS THAT WERE TERRIBLE, AND ONE THAT WASN'T

An overview of a few of my favorite TV shows from the ’70s and ’80s that were remade into horrible, embarrassing crap… and one that wasn't.
  1. 1.
    The Bionic Woman (1976-78) (2007)
Aside from a little eye-candy Michelle Ryan provided while playing Jaime Sommers, this was incredibly painful to watch. Abysmal acting and writing. And the special effects? Over the top, which is unfortunately common when a show like this is remade. That's not what made the first show great, the acting and storyline were. Why is it so hard to get a decent TV remake of a classic sci-if show? Why do they have to suck so much?
  2. 2.
    Knight Rider (1982-1986) (2008-2009)
Easily my favorite show as a teen. KITT was a technological marvel, not to mention the sarcasm and wittiness he threw in. But this remake was just embarrassingly cheesy. The acting was terrible and special effects were beyond comical. And KITT? Somehow KITT was a machine that could transform into every-single model in Ford's lineup.
  3. 3.
    V (1983, 1984-1985) (2009-2011)
Who can resist humanoid lizards draped in human flesh? This remake of the short-lived series from the ’80s started out promising, but ended up feeling like a CW network show. It became apparent the budget was trimmed and the show's quality went downhill. The pace the episodes were released didn't help the viewership to maintain interest either. All of this was disappointing, because it really had a lot of promise based on the initial 4 episodes.
  4. 4.
    Battlestar Galactica (1983-84) (2004-2009)
I didn't watch it when it aired in 2004. I had great memories of the show, and even though I had yet to be burned by the afore mentioned reboots, I didn't want to be disappointed by a crappy remake of a TV show I loved. But when it showed up on Netflix I decided to give it a shot. Have you seen the Portlandia BSG skit? That was me. It was gritty, gripping and took the storyline to a much darker place than the original series did or could. Oh, and thankfully they left out Boxey and Muffit.
