10 Reasons I Love Tel-aviv

  1. 1.
    The gorgeous old buildings
Tel-Aviv is full of old Bauhaus buildings, and buildings that combine Mediterranean and European styles. Even when the salty air and pollution tarnish them, they are beautiful to me.
  2. 2.
People always act like they're on vacation, sitting in cafes and strolling the streets casually.
  3. 3.
In the summer, it's perfectly acceptable to walk around dressed as if you're at the beach
(I have a love-hate relationship with this one)
  4. 4.
    Speaking of the beach..
I love that I live so near to it, and i like that even if you go at 5 in the morning, you will find someone there
  5. 5.
Nowhere is more than 20 min away
    (At least by bike)
  6. 6.
    The city is so new!
100 years ago there was barely anything here but sand!
  7. 7.
There are always open restaurants, bars, convince stores, and there are always people on the streets
  8. 8.
The combination of old and new
In a lot of areas you get old stores that look like time stopped in them at the 50s, next to brand a new place that sells frozen yogurt. Even in the Dizingoff mall, there is a stamp collecting shop!!
  9. 9.
    Tel-Aviv snobbery
I love how we seem to think that everyone wants to live here, and that Tel-Aviv is a cultural metropolis just like New-York or London.
  10. 10.
How calm it seems to stay in all the madness that is Israel
I mean people do panic for like 10 minutes every time there is a terrorist attack, or war, but they are also so used to it, they don't seem to let it get to them. Music, museums, and cafes go on and that makes me feel safe somehow. And I don't mean people aren't acting up against the things that are wrong here (it is known as the left-wing capital of Israel), but that life and art can keep going and prosper even when it gets rough.

    Bonus: Tel-Aviv at YomKippur
All the shops and businesses shut down for a day, there are no cars driving at all. The road is instead reclaimed by people walking and children on bikes. The city is so peaceful for one day every year.
