Things I Loved in 2016

I kept a list of things in culture that either brought me joy, ripped out my heart, or kept me mesmerized in 2016 (many things came out before 2016 but this is when I experienced them)
  1. John Adams Miniseries
Riding on the wave of my obsession with Hamilton. Show me all Revolutionary War history stat.
  2. The Little Mermaid Musical
I was underwhelmed with the broadway version of Beauty and the Beast and expected the same from this. So imagine my surprise that I loved it.
  3. Steve Jobs
Give me Fassbender and Winslet together in every movie
  4. Kelly Clarkson Piece by Piece performance on American Idol
  5. House of Cards Season 4
I assumed this would be the season I would write off the show. Especially cause I hated season 3 so much. I had to limit the number of eps I could watch at a time cause I was enjoying it so much.
  6. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
The music, Rachel bloom, the frank discussions about sex/relationships and mental illness. 💗
  7. Captain America: Civil War
    BTW: #teamironman
  8. Me Before You
Book more than movie. Cause I sobbed for like 3 days straight.
  9. Brooklyn
Ahhh! This movie came out of left field and my heart expanded like 3 sizes.
  10. Hollywood Handbook podcast
Nothing makes me laugh harder on a weekly basis.
  11. Orange is the New Black Season 4
Again another show I wasn't expecting to be as good this season as it was.
  12. Hamilton
Seeing it live got me feeling like: ❤❤😍😭❤❤😭🙌
  13. Hell or High Water
I went in knowing nothing about this movie and was on the edge of my seat every minute
  14. In Conversation: Hedwig and the Angry Inch
SHNSF held a panel with Darren Criss, Lena Hall, and Stephen Trask performing acoustic versions of Sugar Daddy and Midnight Radio. I listen to the video weekly
  15. Amanda Knox
I was so oblivious to so much of what happened when this occurred and was sucked in by the show
  16. Kate McKinnon performing Hallelujah on SNL
  17. 2 Dope Queens
Phoebe and Jessica's relationship is so perfect. Definitely best friend goals. And I love how they have introduced me to new comics that I would have never heard of otherwise.
  18. Pitch
Kylie Bunbury is a freaking delight. And I've watched Mark Paul Gossler since I was a kid and never really felt he was hot. But apparently give him a beard and I'm all in. All. In.
  19. Gilmore Girls: Year in the Life
I didn't know how much I missed them until this showed up. And even though some people have problems with it (and I have minor gripes) I found it so fulfilling.
  20. The Edge of Seventeen
Hailee Steinfeld please please more acting and less pop starring.
  21. La La Land
The movie wasn't perfect for me. But the ending stabbed me in the heart and I've thought of it every day since. Plus the clothes. Oh the clothes.
  22. Rogue One
I watched this today and so the pain may still be too raw.
