Mostly lyrics. Is it cheesy to tattoo lyrics to your body? Who cares!
  1. "I didn't know I was lonely 'til I saw your face"
A beautiful line about not knowing how badly you want to be in love until you see and meet someone who makes you feel that way.
  2. "I didn't know I was broken 'til I wanted to change"
Another line from that song. About wanting to better yourself for said person.
  3. "Nature is a language, can't you read?"
From Ask by the Smiths. A beautiful song about that crippling fear a lot of young people experience when it comes to talking to people, especially those they're attracted to. The Smiths really have a way of speaking to adolescents.
  4. "If you never say your name out loud to anyone they can never ever call you by it"
Another line about breaking out of your shell. This song, Better, and the album it's on by Regina Spektor remind of a beautiful time in Fall 2006 when my best friend, @abbey_bear, and I would drive around in her father's truck as the Santa Ana winds blew and we smoked clove cigarettes and talked about our futures.
  5. "I'd make it to the moon if I have to crawl"
OK, so I think this was written about doing whatever it takes to score a high, but I also think it's a beautiful hyperbole for overcoming all obstacles to achieve your goals.
  6. "Living is easy with eyes closed. Misunderstanding all you see."
In 2011 a Muslim relief organization gathered at a community center in Yorba Linda, a neighboring city to me, to discuss raising money to start social programs like women's shelters. Several hundred people protested the event and chanted "USA" and "Go Back Home" as the attendees, including young children, filed into the room. I wanted to write this on a sign for protestors to see. Search "Hate Comes to OC" on YouTube to see Yorba Linda's most deplorable at their finest.
  7. "...who are they to judge us? Simply 'cause our hair is long."
Heard What's Going On while driving today and this line just stood out to me.
  8. Meet me in Montauk
Reference to my favorite movie, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
  9. Love is love is love is love is love
