1. My dad is having a heart procedure today. I'm not sure what it's called.
  2. It's been a rough couple weeks. He was rushed to the hospital and almost died from a heart "incident".
  3. They're hoping this procedure will fix things.
  4. He was supposed to go home with a "life vest". Basically a portable defibrillator. But insurance wouldn't cover it, so he's been without this whole time.
I've been an emotional wreck, texting and calling and nagging him all day every day.
  5. So today is the day, he's there and I should be there.
  6. But I'm sick. I have a cough, runny nose, fever, etc. and the hospital won't let me in.
I get it. I would never forgive myself if I started a flu epidemic in the cardiac wing of the hospital.
  7. I hate that I'm not there. I hate that my mom is there alone.
  8. He just went back about 30 minutes ago. And they said it could take 4-6 hours!
  9. Waiting sucks!
  10. UPDATE: my dad is having a pacemaker put in. I think this is good. I feel better knowing he has that protection.
He should be out of surgery in about an hour.
  11. UPDATE: my dad is out of surgery and doing well!!
