3 BOOKS I WOULD BASE A RESTAURANT OFF OF (ORIGINALLY REQUESTED BY @THESTING)
@thesting!! I accidentally deleted my draft of your request because listapp was acting weird and I'm really mad about it. But I really enjoyed your request!👌🏻
- •"The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle" by Haruki MurakamiA small, hole in the wall establishment with low lighting and simple, delicious, and fresh Japanese food. There would also be a jazz musician in one corner and a cat milling around. The employees and regulars would be ever so slightly surreal, but good for an interesting and unexpected conversation.
- •"The Goldfinch" by Donna TarttThis would be more of a café than a restaurant, and it would have great coffee and pastries. There would be curios all over and there would be a bunch of floor-to-ceiling bookshelves with good books to read while enjoying your coffee or tea. Also, a no wifi or laptops rule would be implemented, in keeping with Hobie's Luddite tendencies and appreciation for antiquities.
- •"Find Me" by Laura van den BergThis would be an immersive, Sleep No More-style restaurant experience to emulate the first half of the book, set in a Kansas hospital following a strange memory-loss sickness that swept the US. The food would be terrible, and the atmosphere would be downright sterile. But you would immediately tell your friends to come to this restaurant because it's just so fucking bizarre.
