My Top 5 Dio Studio Albums

Dio only, not counting Heaven & Hell by Black Sabbath or The Devil You Know by Heaven & Hell (both great albums)
  1. 5.
    The Last in Line
The title track was my first favorite Dio song. Really opened the door to Dio for me.
  2. 4.
    Killing the Dragon
Almost as good as Master of the Moon, and I also only recently discovered this one, a decade too late.
  3. 3.
    Master of the Moon
Ranks as a very high #3, I only recently discovered Dio's last album. I let it slip by me for a decade, but it quickly became one of my favorites. I feel like a bad fan having missed this while having such high regard for Dio as a rock legend.
  4. 2.
    Holy Diver
Classic album, hell of a debut for a guy who was already into his 40s at the time. An iconic work of heavy metal with a classic cover. First vinyl record I purchased.
  5. 1.
    Lock Up the Wolves
Maybe blasphemy that a classic Dio album like Holy Diver isn't ranked #1 but I absolutely love this album. Every song. The 18 year old guitar phenom Rowan Robertson that Dio debuted on this album is incredible. Still have it on regular rotation.
