MUSIC YOU SHOULD TOTALLY FUCKING KNOW ABOUT IF YOU DONT

thanks @MasonVanValin for making me do this
  1. Caught a Ghost
instead of describing the sound, I'm just gonna tell you to listen to Time Go, Sleeping At Night, then No Sugar In My Coffee IN THAT ORDER because it's a shame he's not a bigger deal and he writes great lyrics and has great soul and it's hard to describe so just listen
  2. Dorothy
bluesy rock with a killer female lead singer who makes you wish there were more female lead singers in rock (I recommend the song Gun In My Hand)
  3. Hurricane Bells
chill indie pop/rock with a gritty guitar sound that gives way to a few acoustic-y songs (my favorites are I've Got a Second Chance and especially Flowers In The Dirt) and a singer who sounds sleepy all the time and all in all the album Tides and Tales is one of my favorites to go on long nighttime drives with while thinking pensively
  4. Jonas Alaska
if jake bugg and elliott smith had a love child it would be this guy
  5. Blake Mills
really incredible singer songwriter and guitar player who makes you wish you were the kind of singer songwriter guitar player genius that he is
  6. LP
one of those artists who you might have heard one of her songs and thought 'what the fuck is this beautiful strange voice??' but never looked into what song was playing. just listen to Tokyo Sunrise. it's breathtaking.
  7. CocoRosie
if you like weird poetic rap/spoken word poetry interwoven into ballads in weirdly experimental but wildly beautiful synth beats then you've gotta hit this sister group up, they rock
  8. Phox
a truly incredible group of lovely harmonies and excellent musicianship but also great writing and please believe me when I say they are as good even BETTER live than on their album
  9. Keaton Henson
caution-- lots of sad music. but it's beautifully poetic and vulnerable. I also encourage looking into his artwork and poetry because he does it ALL and does it beautifully.
  10. Foy Vance
NO NOT VANCE JOY. Foy. Vance. for some excellent songwriting and singing by a kind mustachio'd irishman (had the pleasure of meeting him a while ago, he's honestly the best)
  11. Patch William
GREAT band that I never understood why they didn't get big, but it's really great indie pop rock featuring a cello player, and if that's not bangin' i dunno what is
  12. James Vincent McMorrow
incredibly soulful singer songwriter. just listen to We Don't Eat. I can't express. it's so beautiful.
  13. Caitlyn Scarlett
really awesome pop with some great dance beats but edgier, like if MØ fused with Haim
  14. The Crookes (specifically the album dreams of another day)
though it's an older song of theirs, Yes Yes We Are Magicians is my personal favorite from this indie pop/rock band of Brits and even though I don't understand some of what they're saying the vibe is very fun-- imagine one of those retro 35mm videos that's just slightly sped up, a bunch of friends at a beach goofing off
  15. Pegasus Bridge
great pop band that reminds me a little of the wombats ish
  16. Reptar
dance rock that makes you feel super happy (listen to Phonetics and Sebastian)
