Things I Miss

  1. When you're a child and can stay with your mom all day.
We used to have little "adventures" that usually consisted of a trip to a store (usually T.J. Maxx) and a Tootsie pop. The simplest things were the best things.
  2. When you're in elementary school and summer vacation seems not like months, but years.
No matter how much fun you had, time didn't fly.
  3. When you're a tween and you wonder what you'll be like when you're 20.
Growing up seemed so magical, and if your imagination was as vivid as mine, you could spend all day dreaming up your future self.
  4. When you're in high school and you think you're friends then will be your friends forever.
Nothing beat the feeling of imagining a piece of your past still present in your future.
  5. Now that I'm in college, I miss it being "cool" to love your parents/family.
Some may think I'm childish, but I will never end a phone call home without saying "I love you." Since when is it looked down upon to love those who loved you into existence?
  6. .......
  7. Tangible items can be missed...
  8. But these feelings were as tangible to me as the lollipop I snacked on when I was young...
  9. ...as real as the beach ball I played with in the summer...
  10. ...as visible as the mirror I stared into while imagining my future self...
  11. ...as definite as those friendships seemed to be...
  12. ...as physical as the many hugs and kisses from my family.
  13. Tangible items can be missed...
  14. ...but palpable feelings leave a mark.
