Ordinary words Australians use every day that Americans think sound stupid or old fashioned.

    A Calendar. Americans reserve the word "diary" for a notebook that 12 year old girls write secrets in. In Australia you can make an appointment in someone's diary.
  2. Sticky Tape
    Americans just call it "tape". Sometimes Australians just call it "sticky".
  3. Fringe
    Bangs.
  4. Chewy
    Gum. Chewy is an abbreviation of "chewing gum".
  5. Parcel
    To Australians this is just another word for a package. But to Americans it sounds very oldy-worldy.

    Sweater. Sweat is gross. Why do you even want to call it that?
