I have tons of books around my house just waiting to be read, but my nightstand is supposed to hold my most immediate reading pile. This doesn't always turn out to be the case.
  1. Carmen - Prosper Mérimée
A novella from Melville House's The Art of the Novella Series. I was supposed to have read this before my next ones arrive.
  2. Travels with Charley: In Search of America - John Steinbeck
I bought this at the cutest independent bookstore. The owner took the time to show me her favourite passage in the book before I left.
  3. Canada at War - Paul Keery and Michael Wyatt
A really beautiful graphic novel about Canada's involvement in WWII.
  4. Live from New York: An Uncensored History of Saturday Njght Live, as Told By Its Stars, Writers, and Guests - Tom Shales and James Andrew Miller
I've been dying to read this for months, but it's so just BIG.
  5. Far From the Madding Crowd - Thomas Hardy
I was going to make sure I read this before the movie came out.
