As someone that has watched a ton of movies in his life I've become pretty particular about where I watch them. Some of these picks are sentimental and some are because they are just awesome Movie Theatres. Here we go in no particular order...
  1. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema
What can I say? It's the new king. Besides the social guilt of watching a movie at this new theatre due to arrival of the "New San Francisco" This theatre has everything a movie fan could want. Bar? Check. DVD & Book Store ? Check. Great food? Check. Arrive late? Too bad motherfucker you can't come in. On your phone during the movie ? Fuck that I'll narc on you. This is sacred ground and I love it.
  2. Sundance Kabuki
I have a fond memory when this place was just called the Kabuki. I watched Can't Hardly Wait and This theatre might have been where in the 8th grade I worked up the nerve to put my arm around a girl. Gangsta. In more recent memory it's just been an awesome place to grab a drink with a friend or group of friends, talk shit and then enjoy a flick. Booze + Movies = Happiness
  3. AMC Metreon
I remember when The Metreon was the spot in the city. It had a PlayStation Store and an Arcade. It has a wonderful city view and it's located right in the heart of the city. Not only that but it has a REAL IMAX screen not that other bullshit that the other Bay Area theatres are hustling their customers with. If you want a true event/blockbuster experience go to an IMAX show opening night or even better during a midnight screening.
