1. I want to write extremely legibly.
  2. I have had sloppy handwriting my whole life. I used to blame ADD, but I don't anymore.
    Now there's just no excuse.
  3. If I take my time and pay attention my handwriting can be decent.
  4. Because it looked interesting and because I like to learn, I recently bought an Ames Lettering Guide.
With this you can make perfect letters. I think mostly engineers and architects use these, but they're fun!
  5. I started playing with it a couple of days ago and it's a blast!
  6. I am going to spend five minutes a day for the next two or three weeks writing with this.
  7. I'm also going to spend five minutes a day trying to reproduce those Ames letters freehand.
  8. My goal is not to be a human Ames Lettering Guy, but rather I think that using this guide will teach me to think more clearly about letter formation.
  9. In the end, I hope to have dramatically improved my handwriting.
  10. This isn't part of my goal, but I think it would be cool to be able to freehand write in a couple of different recognizable fonts.
That would be a great party trick or conversation point, like being able to solve a Rubik's Cube or having memorized pi to 100 places.
