I worked the graveyard shift at a grocery store, from 11:30 pm to 7:30 am, for six years. I was always, always tired.
  1. I have fallen asleep while:
  2. Walking
  3. Driving
  4. Riding a motorcycle
On the freeway, doing 55 mph. More than once, I'm sorry to say.
  5. Riding a bike
  6. Eating
  7. Cooking
  8. Talking on the phone
  9. Talking to people in person
  10. Swimming laps
How is this even possible? I can remember waking up, mid stroke, going the other way from where I'd been going. So I'd kept swimming and done a kick turn after falling asleep.
  11. Watching tv
    But who hasn't?
  12. Going to the bathroom
    But who hasn't?
  13. Juggling
  14. Reading
  15. Shopping
In the grocery store, while trying to pick out soup.
  16. Sitting in the Taco Bell drive through after I'd ordered.
  17. Working
Sometimes I'd be using a price gun (anyone remember these?) and wake up having priced the same can a dozen times in my sleep.
  18. Talking to my boss
In person. He was less than amused. This happened several times.
  19. Writing
I'd wake up to see words followed by a long scribble.
  20. In the shower
  21. Getting dressed
I'd wake up, one sock on, one sock off and try to figure out if I was getting dressed or undressed.
