Just Some Thoughts On Music

  1. I recently has built in bookshelves installed in my house, creating a library, which I've dreamed about for years. I'm excited beyond words.
A Library List coming soon, now that most of the books are fairly organized.
  2. But the room that's now the library also used to hold all of my DVDs and CDS. Vinyl, too, but i don't even own a turntable (soon) so I don't have a lot of vinyl.
  3. I'm trying to figure out where to keep my CDs, and decided to organize them. Having recently organized my books has made a huge difference in my life, and it has inspired me to finally organize my music.
  4. Remember John Cusack organizing his albums in High Fidelity. That's me right now, but on a much smaller scale. And CDs instead of LPs.
  5. Things I realized tonight:
  6. I have more Rush music than I realized. Having only discovered them less than two years ago, I didn't know I had gotten so much. They're awesome!
  7. Considering that I only really like Bob Marley socially (like someone who only drinks socially) I have a lot of his music.
  8. I have more Dave Matthews music than anything else. This is as it should be.
I also have an entire iPod dedicated just to DMB!
  9. I haven't listened to Jackson Browne in a long time, and I think it's time to rectify that.
  10. There was a time when I was really, really into Jimmy Buffett, and between albums and bootlegs I have maybe 50 albums. I haven't listened to him in years.
  11. I don't have enough Tom Waits music. Must correct!
  12. I have way more Madonna music than I was aware of. Sheesh, I don't even like her. Why do I have so many of her albums. Weird.
  13. I only find six albums by Foo Fighters. Where are the rest of them? I know I have more.
  14. I have a lot of Pearl Jam. Sometimes I wish I could listen to Pearl Jam and Dave Matthews at the same time.
  15. I have everything that Weezer has put out as I just love those guys, but I haven't listen to them in a while.
Side note: I discovered Weezer when a couple of professional jugglers used The Good Life in a juggling video. I mentioned that to one of them recently, thanking him for improving my life by introducing me to Weezer, and he had no idea who Weezer is. He had no recollection of that life changing video he made.
  16. I found the cassette tape I made, of me playing guitar and singing original music, while slightly drunk one night. It's called The Red Stripe Sessions because I was drinking Red Stripe beer that night. I don't own a tape player anymore, which is good, because I'm pretty sure it was awful to listen to.
  17. I've got about 35 Hawaiian albums. Fun.
  18. I was surprised that I own so much music by: They Might Be Giants; Rage Against The Machine; Counting Crows; Willie Nelson; Beach Boys; Miles Davis; John Coltrane; Nirvana; and Wilco. All great artists, I just didn't know I had so much. Cool.
  19. That's it. There was no real point to this list. Just sharing my thoughts on music.
  20. Also, while it's sorted now, sort of, I still haven't figured out where to keep it. Hmmm...I'll work on that tomorrow.
