Loco Moco

  1. Here's my dinner tonight from the Queen's Shopping Center on The Big Island. Kalua Pork Loco Moco.
  2. Traditional Loco Moco is two scoops of rice, then a hamburger patty, topped with two eggs over easy, then covered with brown gravy, and a side of Mac Salad.
  3. I first had this from a food truck on Maui about 25 years ago and it's been my favorite meal ever since.
  4. Look at that egg! Perfect!
  5. This time I got Kalua Pork, which is the Pork from the pig cooked in the ground all day for luaus. Delicious!
  6. For a food court, this is really good. The mac salad is clearly homemade. And delicious.
  7. And an ice cold Diet Pepsi alongside is exactly what I needed, right @fade?
  8. I asked for half the normal amount of rice and it's still too much, but better than normal. I like rice, but it can get carried away, you know.
  9. To me, the gravy makes or breaks Loco Moco. If it's clearly reconstituted powdered gravy mix, why even bother. I'm pretty sure this is homemade. If it's not, then they did a good job with it.
  10. What a winner if a dinner tonight. The only way it could have been better is if I had remembered to bring my book with me. Oh well.
