Stuff Stuck To Cars, Vol 106, Maui Edition D

  1. Here's some commentary, starting with the last sticker right above this. "If you don't like Hawaiians why the F**k did you move here!" This is not an uncommon feeling here. There are not many actual Hawaiian left to begin with, but some of them have. Evonne quote aggressive about bringing back authentic Hawaiian culture.
  2. I totally get wanting to preserve native culture, be it Native Hawaiian or Native American it anything else. Missionaries came here and absolutely screwed the Hawaiian people who lived here the way they wanted to live. Their land was taken from them the same way it was from native Americans.
  3. What I don't understand is this sticker. Who doesn't like Hawaiians? I don't get that at all.
  4. Here are three more stickers I see over here, but I did NOT take these pictures.
  5. The sentiment for all these are: slow down. Relax. Take it easy. Which is great, and actually I think about this ideal every day of my life. If I'm in such a hurry that I need to speed or drive less than extremely safely, that my own problem and I should have left earlier and I deserve to be late.
  6. But here's the thing...I had two road rage incidents over here this trip, one mild, one dangerousish. Both times the other car was the aggressor and a local. Both times it was because, while I was actually driving a bit over the speed limit both times (sometimes the speed limit is VERY slow) I wasn't going as fast as they wanted and they got mad.
Seriously. Sometimes the speed limit here is TWENTY mph, not in a school zone. Just, like, a nice wide road with no houses or people. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  7. The worse time I got honked at multiple times and the driver made rude hand gestures and tailgated me extremely closely. I finally pulled over into a driveway to just let them pass and both the driver and her 12 year old daughter flipped me off.
  8. Hey! Slow down! This ain't the mainland! Try wait! Try go early! But don't honk at and flip me off!
  9. Anyway, I'm done ranting. I feel better for getting that off my chest.
  10. I'm heading home tomorrow, so this short, one list is the end of the Maui editions. Aloha! 🤙🏼
