3 Good & Bad Things About Unemployment
After a six-week stint of unemployment, I can say there are good and bad things about the experience. And for this list, they are one in the same.
- •No ScheduleFor the most part, you truly own your schedule. You can stop, drop and do an unplanned errand if you need to, or take a nap if you’re tired.
- •Free TimeWithout a schedule, you’ll quickly realize you have more free time. Everyone suggests you “enjoy your time off.” They’re right. But you also need to pay your mortgage/rent, buy food and all that stuff.
- •HumblingIt keeps your ego in check. Your only job is to find a job, but your request, application, email, invitation is one blip on everyone's busy radars. Don’t take it personally when you don’t hear back. Follow up requires unflagging persistence.
