After a six-week stint of unemployment, I can say there are good and bad things about the experience. And for this list, they are one in the same.
  1. No Schedule
For the most part, you truly own your schedule. You can stop, drop and do an unplanned errand if you need to, or take a nap if you’re tired.
  2. Free Time
Without a schedule, you’ll quickly realize you have more free time. Everyone suggests you “enjoy your time off.” They’re right. But you also need to pay your mortgage/rent, buy food and all that stuff.
  3. Humbling
It keeps your ego in check. Your only job is to find a job, but your request, application, email, invitation is one blip on everyone's busy radars. Don’t take it personally when you don’t hear back. Follow up requires unflagging persistence.
