Favorite Podcasts

  1. NPR Pop Culture Happy Hour
Discussing everything from sports to the opera to comic books, nothing is too low or highbrow for these entertaining NPR veterans.
  2. Bon Appétit Foodcast
Strangely I really like listening to food-related podcasts when I go running. Solid guests from all over the food world interviewed each week. Also offers some background/extra insider knowledge about some of Bon Appetit's main features (i.e. Best New Restaurants in America) that you wouldn't find in the magazine.
  3. You Must Remember This
This sounds creepy, but start with the Charlie Manson season. If you want a podcast for binge-listening, this is a great place to start.
  4. Slate's Audio Book Club
  5. Magic Lessons with Elizabeth Gilbert
Normally I don't care for self-help books or shows, but not only is Elizabeth Gilbert a fantastic novelist, she's actually quite motivating and inspirational as well. (And frankly "Eat Pray Love" is my least favorite book of hers.) I'd recommend reading her latest book "Big Magic" before delving into this show.
  6. New Yorker: Out Loud
  7. Food52 Burnt Toast
  8. Radio Cherry Bombe
  9. WNYC's "Empire" After Party
Please tell me you're watching the greatest show on television right now.
  10. Coffee Break French
An excellent primer/ongoing learning tool for experienced Francophones and probably the best digital gateway I've ever seen for newbies to learning French. Bonne chance.
  11. Serial
