WAYS I KNOW MY DEPRESSION IS ABATING

    I get out of bed.
    Every day, even.
  2. 2.
    I answer the phone when it rings.
    Occasionally. I may be feeling better but I still effing hate the phone.
  3. 3.
    I cancel 75% fewer commitments.
    Progress, people. For someone whose default setting is "I don't want to go," this feels substantial.
  4. 4.
    I haven't watched reality TV in three weeks.
    This is probably the best gauge of my progress.
