1. Harry Potter-A-Thon
    The real scoundrel here is my son Jake. When he was 14 he supported Red Nose Day by holding a ‘Harry Potter-A-Thon’. He & his friends would watch all 7 films, as it was then. But the sponsorship never really took off - no one could see the pain in it. Still, having managed to get £16 from friends, they pressed on. It then cost £22 to buy the two DVDs we were missing - and then they spent £21 on pizza to get them through the ordeal. So eventually the whole event cost, rather than raised, £27.
