MOVIES NOBODY SEEMS TO GIVE A SHIT ABOUT BUT FUCK YOU I LOVE THEM

  1. The Beaver Trilogy
Trent Harris, A TV cameraman was given his first video camera in 1978. He goes into the parking lot to test it out and meets this awesome kid out there and films him and made a short documentary about him. He's a mortician assistant who likes to dress in drag and sing Olivia Newton John covers at school talent shows. Then Harris remade the film as a fictional video with Sean Penn, then made it a third time with Crispin Glover. All three are masterpieces and are "unreleased" due to Penn.
  2. The World's Greatest Sinner
The best character actor of all time (according to Kubrick and Cassevetes), Timothy Carey wrote, produced, starred, and directed this in 1962 about an insurance salesman who created his own religion after hearing rock and roll. It's narrated by the snake from the Adam and Eve chapter of the bible.
  3. Lancelot of the Lake
Awesome Awesome Bresson movie. One of his best. Knights and loyalty betrayed, and super violent sword stabbing to the face!
  4. Let's Scare Jessica to Death
A movie about female anxiety. A horror movie where the leads aren't completely moronic idiots. This one is heartbreaks and terrifying.
  5. Highway patrolman
    Alex Cox's best movie.
  6. Messiah of evil
Every major person in the crew went to either help make Badlands or Star Wars or direct Bronson in Hard Times. Joy Bang is only really in this and in Cisco Pike and she's weird and interesting in an awkward way that's rare these days. A movie where the whole is more than the parts. It sticks with you.
  7. The Last Movie
Dennis Hopper got to make whatever he wanted after Easy Rider so he made The Last Movie. Surprisingly, considering its reputation, it's actually a super great movie in the tradition of movies about movies. I hear Criterion has the rights to this as well as Kit Carson's documentary about its making, American Dreamer. THAT movie has a scene of Hopper high on LSD fingering three girls. Also worth seeing.
  8. Fat City
John Huston. Stacy Keach. Susan Tyrell. Conrad Hall. Stockton in the early 1970's. Boxing. It's pretty near perfect. Some people give a shit about this one, but not enough.
