  3. Before writing Harry Potter, JK Rowling was living on welfare and suffering from depression. Her first Harry Potter manuscript was rejected by 12 publishers before being accepted a year later.
  4. Terry Gross from NPR's Fresh Air was fired from her first job as a teacher before discovering radio.
  5. The first book Dr Seuss wrote was rejected by 27 different publishers.
